Please forgive me, I am new to this! I am creating a blog to help me organize all of the wonderful thoughts and ideas I have swimming around my head and to help record the activities I attempt with my after school crew. I am not going to try to claim credit for most of the ideas I post on here because very few are my own. What I will do though is link back to the original site whenever possible and show you any adjustments I've made.

That being said, let the fun begin!

An Autumn Masterpiece

I love Autumn.  I love crafts.  So what is better than a good autumn craft?   There are so many wonderful sites out there with fun, fantastic and easy ideas that can be adapted to just about any age group.  Yesterday's activity was inspired by an old post from Sunhats & Wellie Boots

On our way home from school we collected handfuls of twigs, feathers, leaves, pine cones, blackberries and anything else that the children found interesting.  We talked about the autumn and the changes that happen during this time of the year.

When we got home I set the children at the table with a large piece of paper, their treasures and some red, yellow and gold paint.  I was interested to see what they created without my input.

After smearing blackberries onto the paper, Lulu decided to try painting with a feather.

TJ found a piece of wheat dipped into yellow paint, which in true toddler fashion, he decided to taste.  Yuck!

TJ's masterpiece, complete with trademark rip.

Some closeups of the finished work.

Some beautiful blackberry and apple printing by JEJ.

An experiment in color mixing by HW.

Some serious leaf printing, feather painting and lovely blackberry prints by IW.

Ta Da! The finished product.
